Launch day for a new book! I’ve been working with Rob McDowell on $MALL TOWN FINANCIAL: An Atypical Narrative For Atypical Times since January, when he approached me at Write Now! with Jon Tattrie seeking advice on his manuscript. He’d spent his career as a financial advisor and wanted to create a book to store and share that wisdom.
He wanted to publish it by June.
Our first step was a customized developmental edit. When you work with a publisher, they edit your book to fit THEIR idea of what a book should be. When you work with me, I edit your book to fit YOUR vision for what it should be. I love digging deep into a manuscript, and an author, to help them find the best way to structure their book to keep readers turning pages.
Once the structure was set and a few architectural issues repaired, I created a gorgeous interior design for Rob so that he could use the tools of the page to better deliver his message. I then completed a line-by-line proofread to catch all the errors.
We collaborated on the cover, capturing his unique book with the perfect look, and I produced it in hard cover, paperback and ebook editions.
That technical support meant Rob could pour his mind and spirit into the book itself. Here’s a taste: “From the beginning of humankind to the present, we live in a world that continually evolves, sometimes in repetitious fashion. We are products of our times. Financially, we navigate the choppy seas while at the same time holding onto those ‘small town values’ that are foundational to our being. Sometimes the best wisdom comes from the smallest places.”
